For the month of November, we have chosen to highlight the wonderful Paige Christensen. She lives in the hot temps of Arizona with her three sweet kids and husband. She is an incredible photographer and we are truly inspired by the woman she is!
Tell us a little bit about yourself...
I grew up in Arizona, then when Ben and I were married, we moved to California, back to Arizona, then Utah, and back to Arizona. Arizona always seems to pull us right back because we love it. I went to school and became a Physical Therapist Assistant where I worked in a skilled nursing facility with the old folks and I loved it. They always wanted to talk and tell stories (my kind of people) and it was always fun joking around with them. I have three kids – Milo is 6, Ruckus is 3 and Raen is 3 months. My husband and I are both photographers. I shoot more local commercial photoshoots and Ben travels all over shooting commercial photography, look books, lifestyle, all sorts of things! Milo, our daughter, already shows an interest in taking photos, it's been fun to watch.
How do you find happiness in each day?
My happiness comes from not only my family but also because I've learned to take a step back when I think something is a big deal or something is upsetting. I try to think, "How can I fix this," rather than to instantly be bummed or upset. With a husband that travels a lot, it can be hard to take care of the kids and get them on time to everything they need to be at; but rather than being overwhelmed, I try and think of ways I can make life easier for not only myself but for them as well! Even if that means that I simply set out my daughters bowl of cereal the night before and prepare her school lunch before going to bed, just so that we're not rushed and overwhelmed in the morning. It's the little things that make the biggest difference.
What is one life lesson that you will never forget?
To never trust a skinny cook ; )
Who or what inspires you to be a better person?
My kids inspire me to be a better person. The last thing I want is for them to pick up on my terrible characteristics. For example, it's not really in my nature to offer words of affirmation often, so that's something I need to work on. Every night before they go to bed, I tell them three things that make them so great (obviously there are more than three but we have to keep it semi quick). Then, throughout the day, I make sure to give them lots of kisses and hugs, even when they don't want me to.
What is one thing you would do to make the world a better place?
Oh man, if I had super powers I would get rid of diseases and cancer. Way too much heartache comes from that.
What are some major things you are thankful for?
I'm thankful for good friends. Everyone needs at least one person that is just there for you even when you didn't know you needed it. Someone that shows up to help with your kids, brings you a treat, gives you a phone call because they just get it. Be a good friend!
