At Mae Woven, we believe in small batch handmade home goods that are well made, functional and beneficial for the world we live in. The inspiration behind offering Kilim pillows was not to sell a decorative pillow, but to invite in the culture, art, and history of handmade artisan pieces to your home! Sourcing Kilim pillows for the use of a variety of spaces is our way to honor the authenticity of a handmade rug crafted into a pillow.
This craft is developed by an artisan who has put all of their efforts into making it. In the history of Kilim rug weaving, the artisan does their best in choosing colors and patterns that best represent their family and celebration of their culture. Mae Woven fell in love with the culture and soulful process that goes into creating each piece, we were driven to share these one-of-a-kind pillows with you!
Our Kilim pillows are crafted from Turkey and made from vintage wool rugs. Wool is used because of its inherent qualities. It is durable and handles easily when woven. Most importantly, there is a plentiful supply of wool in kilim-making regions such as Turkey.
Kilim designs are made with a flat woven and hand-loomed technique to create a variety of designs or colors.
The rugs we choose for making kilim pillows can be up to a few decades old. Typically, they were made for personal or family use by previous generations and passed down to their children and grandchildren who have decided to repurpose their beauty.
Since Kilim is created from vintage Turkish rugs, each pillow that is sourced from the artisan is each of its own. The process of crafting the vintage fabric into pillows is a mindful art that takes time and restocks happen upon Kilim pillows being completed by our artisans. This collection perfect for statement pieces or to mix patterns. They can add an element of elegance and texture to any space!
We hope you enjoy the Kilim collection as much as we do!

]]>We went through quite the emotional roller coaster with IVF. After years of unsuccessfully trying to grow our family, we decided to see a fertility specialist and found out I have a rare genetic mutation where I’m missing 2 copies of the MTHFR gene. Because of that, my egg reserve is extremely low and the chances of us getting pregnant, even with IVF, were very slim...
]]>Our beloved Mae Woven Muse series is back! Meet Brittany Tanner, IVF mama of preemie twin boys. She is a California girl residing in our home state of Utah. Britt has an eye for all things design, fashion and beauty. We deeply admire her strength + faith throughout her pregnancy journey. We can't wait for you to get to know her, too.
I was born and raised in California with a deep love for the ocean and sunshine. Being raised in a large family, I thrive off connection and relationships. I’ve traveled to 5 continents, 19 countries and 38 states. I love to explore outdoors and I’m always up for an adventure! I love all things design and have run my own design business for years doing fashion design and styling, graphic design and interior design.
Organic modern. I feel strongly about having my home be a safe place for others to come and feel welcome and loved. I am passionate about interior design and am constantly thinking of new ideas for my home. I love the combination of clean simple lines and organic textures. A lot of pieces in my home are from my travels or handed down from my late mother.
The hardest part about Covid for me has been having my dad in California. Because of the pandemic, he hasn’t met my 6mo old babies yet. We FaceTime with him multiple times a week so he can still get to know them and see them through the different stages they are going through until he comes out in May!
Oh man this is a loaded question! Honestly, I love being a mother. Like really really love it. My mother passed away almost 7 yrs ago. She always inspired me to be a mom. I don’t know how she did it, raising 8 kids and making it all look so easy. I certainly don’t make it look easy ha, but I do find so much joy in being able to share the massive amount of love that I have with these tiny humans. Mothers have a powerful effect on their children and I strive daily to have that be a positive one.
We went through quite the emotional roller coaster with IVF. After years of unsuccessfully trying to grow our family, we decided to see a fertility specialist and found out I have a rare genetic mutation where I’m missing 2 copies of the MTHFR gene. Because of that, my egg reserve is extremely low and the chances of us getting pregnant, even with IVF, were very slim. We did two rounds of IVF back to back, two months in a row and only had 3 viable embryos (average per round of IVF is anywhere from 8-14). We put all three in and two took, Max and Golden! It is absolutely a miracle, even my doctor didn’t think it was possible.
My advice for anyone going through infertility of any kind is to not give up and do your best to hold out hope. Stay focused on your end goal and try to not to get too discouraged. Growing your family is such a sensitive and emotional thing and there will be ups and downs with any IVF journey. We had bad news after bad news that nearly left us feeling wiped out and unsure if it would ever work out. It was hard to keep trying and have hope that things would work out, but I am so glad that we did. Just remember, it will all be so so worth it in the end.

Though it’s commonly referred to as “African”, the fabric hails from northern Africa, specifically the inland country of Mali in the Western Sahara region. The term “mudcloth” is loosely translated from Bambara, the language spoken in Mali. “Bògòlanfini” as it is called in Bambara, combines three root words: “bogo” meaning earth or mud, “lan” meaning ‘with’, and “fini” meaning cloth. The handmade Malian cloth dyed using fermented mud, giving it its name-sake. The tradition dates back to the 12th century.
Traditionally made by men, they weave together thin strips of plain fabric, usually a yellowish beige natural color, into squares that were then stitched together. After the construction of the cloth, the fabric was then dyed in baths of leaves and branches. This process is used to bind the dye to the fabric.
The fabric was then laid out to dry in the sun, after which beautiful patterns would be intricately and carefully painted using a special kind of mud. The mud was collected from numerous streams and ponds and left to ferment over seasons.
As the mud dries, it changes colors, from dark brown or black to a gray color. The excess mud is washed off the fabric and the process is repeated many times. With each repetition, the affected area becomes darker. The unpainted areas were treated with a bleaching agent, turning the natural yellow color brown. After sun drying for a week, the fabric is washed off and leaves the characteristic white pattern on a dark background.
Similar to Ankara and kitenge fabrics, mudcloth were often manufactured to carry meaning to the wearers and onlookers. The designers used the pattern of the light shapes and figures on the dark background to convey meaning, often passed from mother to daughter. These meanings could often be quite complex, but there were some standard patterns that had accepted meanings within certain ingroups. A twirl, for instance, meant life, while a concentric circle could represent the world.
Chris Seydou, a Malian fashion designer, is widely credited with bringing African mudcloth into the modern fashion arena. Growing up with his embroiderer mother, Seydou was frequently surrounded by the fabrics and incorporated them into his haute couture clothes, modifying the complex patterns for Western audiences.
Large amounts of mudcloth are still produced in Mali, mostly as part of the tourist trade, with men responsible for most of the production. Today, it is used in a variety of ways, from fashion to furniture and home decor. It remains a popular way to add texture and pattern to an outfit or a room.
At Mae Woven, we love having our pillows made from African mudcloth. We find fabric in many different colors from black, to rust and white or cream and even pink! We love the designs and textures that make each pillow cover unique.

We love using our handwoven pillows as a simple way to switch up the style of any space. Pillows add warmth, increase livability, and help express your unique style in your home.
When developing your personal style, ask yourself these questions:
1) How do I dress? Do I like a lot of color and pattern?
2) Do I like to match things (match shoes and purse, etc.)? Am I more comfortable using a matching set of dishes or do I like to mix it up?
3) Do I like many decorative elements or do I prefer more minimalist and simple style?
Once you've determined your style, you'll know what works best for you and your home.
Here are a few tips and tricks to help you get started:
MONOCHROMATIC / If you love to mix patterns and styles, selecting pillows that have the same predominant colors can help the combination feel more cohesive.
MIXING TEXTURES / Mixing textures is a great way to bring visual interest into any space. We love mixing pillows of different colors and patterns for a playful spin on traditional home decor. You can achieve a more minimalist look by mixing textures that have similar patterns or predominant colors.
MIXING SIZES / Create dimension in your space by mixing pillows of different sizes on sofas, beds, or benches. We love throwing in a lumbar (or two!) to complement the larger, square pillows!
A FEW OR MANY / When it comes to the quantity of pillows, you can't go wrong. A single pillow on the end of a sofa can be a beautiful statement and a collection of pillows on your couch can create a comfy composition.
Happy styling!

]]>Once harvested, bundles of hemp are dried in the sun, boiled in ash water, then taken to rivers to be washed. Once stripped down, the fibers are line dried, creating a blank canvas for locally made, natural dyes. The fibers are spun into thread, then transformed into beautiful textiles through weaving on a backstrap loom. This meticulous process has been passed down, creating generations of ceremonial clothing.
After sustainably sourcing these textiles from the Hmong people, members of our in-house team got to work designing our Hill Collection. We’ve carefully crafted a process of creating pillow covers that honor the original purpose of these fabrics. We’ve preserved the intricate fringe edges found at the bottom of these garments and carefully closed the head-openings. With subtle hues created by the natural dying process, each pillow has a unique color combination.
We love pairing these with linen pillows and pillows from our Thailand collection. We can’t wait for you to fall in love with the natural beauty of our Hill Collection as they travel from the mountainous regions of Thailand to your home.
Shopping small is a great way to connect with members of your local community! In addition to small online shops, there are holiday art markets, small brick and mortar shops, and local artisans that provide meaningful gifts for anyone on your list.
Not only does shopping small make you feel good, it is good for your local economy and directly benefits your neighborhood, city, or town! When you purchase from a local business, the sales tax stays in your community which puts money towards roads and public schools. When you purchase from a small business, your money goes to create jobs, fund creativity and reinforce entrepreneurship!
Every community has a unique selection of small businesses ranging from local coffee roasters to small book stores and artisan boutiques to local plant shops. With so many options, finding the perfect gift is a fun way to explore your city! We've included a couple of ideas to get you started:
We all know how stressful the holidays can be. Treat your friends with relaxation essentials from an artisan boutique! Bath salts, incense and natural face masks make the perfect gift! {Bonus: include some fresh eucalyptus from your local market to add a touch of greenery.}
With the days getting shorter and the temperatures dropping, the holidays are a perfect time to slow down and cuddle up. Make a holiday basket for friends or family with a book from a local book seller, a cozy handmade throw, and a bag of your favorite locally roasted coffee or tea. {Bonus: include a deck of cards or your favorite holiday movie so the whole family can enjoy.}
Don't forget about your furry family members! Treat them to a unique toy, a locally made biscuit, or a handmade bed from a small shop. {Bonus: pick up ingredients from your local market and make homemade pet biscuits.}
As the year comes to a close, we love to thank the people in our lives that often get overlooked. Pick up pastries from your local bakery and attach a handwritten note thanking your mailman, teachers, or crossing guards. {Bonus: include some hand-warmers to keep them warm on their route!}
We hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Don't forget to shop small!

]]>I love this question!! I think I’d title this chapter, “An Airbnb Love Story in the South of France”. If you would have told me that I’d buy a last minute ticket to Paris 5 days before my flight and explore France with my younger brother — and then take a train down to the South of France, where I’d get the keys to my Airbnb and meet my future husband, a FRENCH BOY, I’d NEVER believe you, hahaha...
]]>I don’t think my inspiration is always a “who”. I find a lot of my inspiration on the daily, in things I see or hear or experience. The way light dances with its shadows…a plant swaying in the wind, an interaction with lovers on the street…a photo I see that makes me want to know the story…a new recipe, music, I mean the list goes on! I think if I allowed my inspiration to only come from a certain person, eventually I’d feel dried up. Inspiration for me is something that is constantly evolving and while I could ramble off a million people I admire creatively, I know there’d be a million more I couldn’t name who have accidentally inspired me, too.

Hi my name is Steph Kirk and I’m a portrait, fashion and product photographer/stylist based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Two years ago when I was just 21 years old, my boyfriend Clutch and I started Studio Noire Noir, a photography studio here in downtown. He is the raddest, funniest, most selfless and hottest human on the planet. We are some of the lankiest people you will ever meet. I’m 5’11” and he’s 6’3” so we can be a little intimidating at first but I promise you were are gentle giants who are actually just dumb, joke slingin’ idiots. We have a dog named Mango who is our absolute pride and joy. I love music, fashion, interior design and Asian food. I also have a background in social media management and event curation.
The human connection. Having your photos taken can be such a vulnerable and nerve-racking experience for most people. I love being able to get to know the person in front of my lens while we shoot and then after, helping them realize their beauty once they see the images. Nothing makes me happier than hearing clients say things like “I’ve always hated photos of myself but you have made me feel so beautiful and confident”. I for real cry so many happy tears every. single. time. I get those kinds of messages. There's nothing I want more than for people to feel empowered and have love and appreciation for themselves. It's so cool and I am so grateful that I get to help provide that. And don’t even get me started on the fact that I get to literally freeze time and moments of special life chapters for people as well.
On the creative spectrum, I also love having the ability to bring to life ideas, elements and concepts of things I’m drawn to. Self expression is so important and I love being able to showcase pieces of who I am through photos.
I’ve been doing photography since I was a kid. I learned on an old Canon AE-1 film camera and later learned to develop and print my own work in Jr. High. Dark rooms are pure magic. My older sisters and I would always take photos of each other and I learned a lot from watching them as well. I loved it and have known it was my path in life even as a child. It's very deep-rooted in me and means so much to me in so many aspects. To me, it's a big part of who I am and my history, not just something I do.
This answer changes ALL the time for me. Constantly. Today I think I'd like to be laying in a sunny, grassy field in Switzerland. Yeah, that sounds pretty nice right now.

Using Market Bags in our homes is one of our favorite ways to maximize storage and functionality. Perfectly sized to fit a towel, your current read, a small picnic, and a drink or two, we love keeping our market bags stocked and ready to go for warm afternoons at the park (or backyard). {Bonus: a market bag hanging in your entryway is the perfect place to store reusable grocery and produce bags for trips to the market}.
Our Bolga baskets are a customer favorite for their versatility and beautiful, handmade aesthetic. Our Natural Bolga Baskets are perfect for storing toys in living spaces and spare towels in the bathroom. Our Mini Bolga Baskets help keep counters clear as the perfect catch all for crafting supplies, bathroom essentials, and more! {Bonus: they're a great option for little hands at farmers markets and shopping trips}.
Launching earlier this year, our Woven Tote has quickly become a Mae Woven staple. It's a perfect blend of hand-woven texture and polished design. It can be seen standing in as a magazine holder at the end of a sofa or as a light and fun alternative to your everyday purse. {Bonus: it is just the right size for keeping story books handy next to a bedside table}.
Okay okay, we know that our Bicycle Basket isn't necessarily a home storage solution, but we couldn't help but highlight some of our favorite uses. With the adjustable leather straps, it quickly attaches to almost any bike handles. Hand woven from elephant grass, it is just the right size to hold your camera, water bottle, and a snack or two for spring time bike riding. {Bonus: it is easy to take on and off making it a great place to store your bike lock and helmet inside between rides}.
We wish you the best of luck with refreshing and renewing your space for Spring!

I was born in the capital of Puerto Rico, San Juan, which is where my entire family is from. My immediate family is the first generation to move from the island which is really cool, but also, I wish I was there (but that is another story). We moved around the stated and landed in Miami which is where I grew up. I went to college here in Salt Lake and ended up staying here for the opportunities and I kind of fell in love with Utah. When I came here, it was a total culture shock because I went from sunny Miami with a ton of diversity to Utah. I really missed my Cuban food, the music, and everything that comes with being down there. In a sense, that is why I started Indie Latina because I was like, "let me find my brown friends, like, where are my people at?". I lived around the indie sphere with all the musicians and artists and downtown Salt Lake is diverse, but the Latin community is very niche and I wasn't finding them naturally. I felt that there had to be people like me doing awesome things here in Salt Lake, people who are Latina or Lantinx. I use the local angle because I've always loved supporting local boutiques and spaces on my own. I feel like it is a window into the local art and music scene too!
Really just meeting people. I love seeing what people are doing, their creativity inspires me. I love taking photos, editing, and curating because I feel like snippets of my life and character come through too.
I want to use my platform to do more in the Latin community. My first project this year is a Latin music night. There hasn't really been a consistent platform for Latin genres to perform here in Salt Lake. I have a friend who manages Sofar sounds here in Salt Lake and I'm excited to collaborate with her to create something. We are getting artists lined up and marketing is in the works right now.
I've been to Spain before, but only to Barcelona, so I want to go to Madrid. I also really want to go to Thailand for the beaches and the culture. I would also love to go to Chile. But really, one of my dreams is to start doing weekender trips to see more of Utah. There’s so much I haven’t seen yet, like the arches!

]]>COMPANY RESOLUTIONS:
This year, we plan to immerse ourselves in our community more. Whether it be participating in more pop-ups, volunteering or collaborating with local, small businesses – we plan to do it all! We also hope to arrange more fundraising opportunities and give back to those in need on a larger scale this year. We are excited to grow as a company and learn from the hurdles we know we will endure.
Meet Emmy (@ameliahannah), the owner!Happy 2020! I LOVE a fresh new year and chance to reflect. My word for this year is mindfulness. I will be especially mindful of how I prioritize my time, my environment, and what I put into my body. I hope to be more in tune with my family and their needs... as well as a support to my community as well.
2019 was a year of growth. It was challenging in a lot of ways but I am coming out of it proud of the person I am becoming and so thrilled for what 2020 will bring! I am so grateful for the support I feel from all of you and my incredible team.
Meet Megan (@megjensen), our Office Manager!
For me, 2019 was a year full of adventure, growth and love. Reflecting on the past year is always bittersweet for me – Sad it's over, but excited for what's to come. So thankful for all that was learned and accomplished.
This year, I hope to spend more quality time with the ones I love – especially since my parents and siblings are moving to Colorado come summer! I also hope to learn a new hobby (fingers crossed that THIS is my year to become a more regular cook). Lastly, I hope to be more intentional in all my doing. Whether it be friendships, my marriage, purchases and more. I have a good feeling about 2020! Bring it on!
Meet Emme (@emmenelson), our Graphic Designer!
2019 was a year full of changes: graduating with a degree in Design, getting engaged to my best friend {!!!}, moving into our first home, and joining the Mae Woven team! In 2020, I am looking forward to new experiences and setting a few intentions to guide my year. I hope to read daily {with a lofty goal of reading 40 books in 2020}, run a half marathon, and slow down to create space for the things I love {travel, through hiking, cooking, and painting}. Here's to 2020!
Meet Tani (@tnsmom), our Production Manager!
My new years resolutions... As you can see, adventure and spending time with family bring me joy! (The tortoise was 112 years old!). My 2020 goals include continuing to study Spanish, visiting some of our international partners, and sourcing new textiles which meet and exceed our company values. Using my time to serve in the community here locally will be a priority also. It’s glamorous to serve abroad but our local underserved populations need us also.. and it’s right in front of us!
We are so thankful for all of the love and support we were shown in 2019! All thanks to YOU. We hope you have a year full of laughter, love and growth. Wishing you safety, health and happiness in 2020! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Luckily, our pillows come in all shapes and sizes. On most couches, benches or beds, pillows of different sizes can make furniture appear larger than it is. It also will give the final look more diversity.

"Started by textile designer Chinar Farooqui in 2009, Injiri works with hand-loomed textiles for clothing and the home. The label is entirely based on the idea of celebrating the process of hand-woven and handcrafted Indian textiles; the clothes are little stories about the textiles they are made of. The label believes in working within the limitations of the techniques to create beautiful products."
"On a piece of paper, Chinar Farooqui illustrates her impressions of recent journeys. The colors, lines, shapes, lighting, and shadows all materialize onto the surface from vivid images in her mind. She then takes her work to the weavers’ houses. Using traditional textiles as references for techniques, she develops textile patterns side by side with skilled weavers on their wooden looms.
For Farooqui’s home and fashion label, Injiri, everything begins with textile design. Instead of searching for fabrics on the market, Farooqui always makes her own fabrics from scratch. Patterns and styles first take shape on the traditional hand looms, and from there, she cuts her textiles into garments and home goods."–– Minzuu
These gorgeous Injiri fabrics are made entirely by hand – from weaving and dyeing to the last trims and finishes; it passes through the hands of craftspeople from various parts of India utilizing traditional skills and techniques that differ from region to region. There may be slight irregularities in the fabrics due to the weaving and dyeing process.
We, at Mae Woven, fell in love with the beauty and thoughtful patterns of these gorgeous fabrics. We are beyond excited to share them with you!

Here at Mae Woven, we install many fluffy pillow inserts into close fitting covers. There’s just something about a really fluffy, soft, choppable pillow. We believe that we have perfected the method of putting the least amount of strain on zippered or any other type of opening.

]]>Well to start we live in Nashville, TN. I work as a doula and birth worker when I have time, now that our son Folger is a little older it’ll be easier to take on more mamas! My husband is a musician, writer, and a session player when he isn’t traveling! Our first four years of marriage were spent traveling together A LOT! Now that we have babes I’m home more, but we still like to go out with papa when we can! Ella’s first trip was to Norway when she was 4 months - it was a blast. We want our kids to experience other cultures, and see different parts of the world from a young age. We are planning on traveling a lot within the next year, so I am getting excited about that! Fun little fact about my family: a lot people ask about our son’s name and why we named him Folger. It’s my moms family name (and yes! It is the Folger coffee family but they actually sold it forever ago haha), and I’ve always loved the idea of using it for a boy! Other things I love are our church community, cooking with friends/family, going on long walks when the weather is good, and spring! It’s my favorite season.

Probably Target, because I mean, I go at least two times a week! Haha! Mom life! OR Shop Doen my favorite shop to buy clothing for myself and Ella.
Oh man, I would say my biggest weakness would be to overcommitting to things! It’ll be Monday, and I’ll realize that I’ve planned so many things that I’ll have to cancel some just so I can have a minute to relax. It always ends up making me stressed, I would think I would have learned by now! Haha. I would say one of my biggest strengths would be loyalty. I really really love my people - I think that’s how I can get into trouble with overcommitting. I just want my everyone to know I’m there for them, and that I’m sensitive to whatever they are walking through in that season. Life is so much easier when we show compassion, and listen to each other. I know I’m still learning that for sure. How do you balance the two? I think just being honest about what I can handle, and do for others helps a lot!

In addition to adding style to a room, a throw blanket, of course, has its functional advantages. In the winter they are great for cuddling up by the fire or on the couch while watching a movie with loved ones.
In warmer months, you may want to switch to lighter fabrics. The advantage here is having the opportunity to be more playful with the texture and weave of the throw. It can also help transition your household decor through the seasons, balancing the color scheme with light and brightness in the summer months or deep earth tones in the winter.
There are so many options and combinations you can try out to add style to your home decor. The versatility, functional usage, and warmth added to your room by the thoughtful use of a throw blanket can make a big difference in adding a “homey” touch to your house. It can invite guests to get comfortable and feel at home. So pick up one while you’re out and get started.
]]>It can be tricky to know how to mix and match throw pillows on a sofa, but with these 6 tips, you’ll go from drab to delightful in no time at all.
Perhaps the most important idea to get out of your mind is the one that says you need to match. Nothing says dated and boring than matching pillows. Going for a basic color scheme, or three or four colors that work together, means no matter the pattern, texture, or shape, you’ll have an updated aesthetic for your throw pillows.
It’s also fine to choose pillows within the same theme, say a boho look, or a geometrical, black and white theme. Having a cohesive design style will look thoughtfully modern.
For a modern look, aim for an odd number of pillows, and keep the total amount of pillows on the low end (three, or five max). Too many pillows can look overwhelming, and create a space that isn’t inviting. If your style is more traditional, you should aim for an even number of pillows for a balanced, symmetrical look that still looks fresh and updated (aim for two or four pillows).
Mixing patterns and colors is a great start to updating your pillow game, but don’t forget textures in the process. Find pillows made from different fabric textures and create a look that varies in color, pattern, and texture for a truly cozy, visually interesting couch. For varied textures, try exciting textiles like cactus silk pillows, Moroccan wool pillows, and fresh linen pillows. African Mud Cloth and Baoulé pillows add exciting patterns and designs as well as texture.
Remember, while you’re totally allowed to “go wild” here with texture (fur, velvet, even leather aren’t off limits) subtle textile differences — like between Mud Cloth and Moroccan Wool — can also be striking, while maintaining a modern, minimalist look.
Down pillow fills offer a softer, luxe to your sofa, while pillows made of synthetic fibers are more wallet-friendly will retain their shape better. Mae Woven uses down alternative pillow fills, for a budget conscious option that holds the shape and chuff of down, while remaining environmentally friendly and cruelty free.
Traditionally, most throw pillows are square. And while there is a place for traditional and square, it’s perfectly acceptable—encouraged, even—to think outside the box here, and select some rectangular pillows, lumbar pillows, or other shapes. This will modernize your couch style.
Okay, these rules are good to follow because they work in aesthetically pleasing, artful ways. But these rules aren’t really actually rules that you must follow. If you prefer an eclectic look, or have a more bohemian style, or just simply like what you like and don’t give a thought to rules of aesthetic, just go for what you want to go for. Ultimately, creating a look with throw pillows should fit what you like…no matter what.
]]>Today we are sharing some of our favorite ways our customers have styled their homes using our pillows, blankets, and baskets.
You can never have too many pillows! When styling with throw pillows, try using different size variations.
Try this pillow combination idea: Make your bed with your normal sleeping pillows, then stack two 20" pillows side by side in front. We love the incorporation of both black and white mud cloth here. From there, add a lumbar pillow to make the scene feel more full. Top off the stack with a third 20". Finally, add a decorative mud cloth bed scarf to tie in the differing fabrics. Try keeping the stack monochromatic for a more minimal look.

One out-of-the-ordinary way to style your throw pillows is pairing them together in a blanket basket. This will make the room feel cozier and adds some depth. In this example, we love how a basic mud cloth has been paired with a more detailed throw pillow, then stacked on multiple folded blankets. In addition, try styling pillows on a unique piece of furniture to make it stand out more. For instance, add a more colorful accent to a simple indoor swing.

While not everyone will see your bathroom, you can still add some finesse without too much effort. Instead of hanging your towels on a typical rack, drape your turkish towels over the side of your tub for a more sophisticated look. We love the incorporation of beautiful bath accessories. Dress up your bags & baskets by arranging some blooms or household items, such as blankets, hats, and so forth. They make for an easy, smooth, and pretty transportation. Adding keychains, bandana’s, or pom poms also contribute to the overall appearance. Some additions we currently love:

My name is Sunshine and my husband and I are raising the kindest little multicultural global citizen we can. I’m an Island girl and a 1st generation Brooklynite my husband is Nigerian by way of Benin. Noon is a child of the world uniquely flavored as both a First and Second generation American.
I’m an old soul with a bohemian spirit, I’ve been to 40 countries yet I can’t have a conversation with most humans due to my severe social anxiety.
I’m so anxious about social interactions that avoid seeing others in embarrassing scenarios I fast forward past awkward moments on television and in movies! If I can’t fast forward or I’m watching with someone else I curl into a ball and stick my fingers in my ears till I feel like the moment has passed.
Most days it feels like my sanity is frayed, but on Thursday’s (random day of the week) I feel like I’ve got it all together. I create in my daughters downtime but I’m more inspired to create while she’s a part of it all.
While designing Mino the Label, Noon has been fit model and muse. She’s helped me pick out fabrics and field tested samples. Having her inspired me to take on my dreams in a big way, it’s only fitting that she be apart of every step of my process.
Now that she’s a bit older I have moments where we are a part.
Saying negative things gives you a double dose of the worlds negativity. Standing in light, thinking/speaking positivity allows you to control your own surroundings and filter the negativity. I wish people spoke kinder when they think no one is listening, because I’m the end they’re listening.
As a mama who tried her very best.
That loving someone fiercely doesn’t mean they love you at all.
To be human, means you have every second of your life to be someone absolutely new.
I’m the biggest Lauryn hill fan, a fan of the classics growing up she was my ideal vision of beauty. I saw her perform once in California and I wept the entire performance. I was so moved by her might. She first play any of her old songs like she used to, she plays what she wants how she wants. I remember thinking, how hard it is for me to be myself in a room full of strangers and here was this woman, my idol. Baring her soul in a room full of people who sweared they knew her intimately, boldly refusing herself on her own terms. Ever sound that came out of her beautiful mouth she took a stand for the version of herself she loved, the version of herself that filled her up. I’ve never witnessed something more powerful.
Instagram: @africanbohemeI was born and raised in the greatest state of north Texas, and it shows. My southern pride runs deep! I met my husband while attending college in Provo, Utah. He makes me (and basically everyone around him) pee my pants laughing, and that's how I knew we would be together forever. We welcomed our sweet, chunky baby boy into the world this last April and truly could not imagine life without his little rolly polly self! My world basically revolves around loving on these two, exploring the outdoors, Thai food and creating anything and everything that consumes every corner of my brain!
